K1 bikes were produced between 1988 and 1993. K1 was presented in 1988 with the 4V engine and optional ABS, but first bikes arrived to the dealers during spring 1989. Sale price for a 1989 model without ABS was 20.200 DM. In october 1991 ABS becomes standard equipment, as the catalitic converter exhaust. Last bike was produced august 1993.
Production data is: 1988, 12 units; 1989, 3.574; 1990, 2.120; 1991, 763; 1992, 310; 1993, 142. Total production is 6.921 K1 motorcycles.
Colour schemes
The K1 is always painted in the "aficionados" mind on their wild red and yellow, or blue and yellow schemes, but these bikes will be offered in other liveries. Here you can check the BMW official colour schemes for the K1:
- Scheme 658: Marakesch Red 222 plus big Yellow grahics (1989). Gearbox, cardan and wheels rims are painted yellow.
- Scheme 657: Laguna Blue 232 metallic plus big Yellow graphics (1989). Gearbox, cardan and wheels rims are painted yellow.
- Scheme 670: Classic Black 162 metallic (1991). Gearbox, cardan and wheels rims are not painted.
- Scheme 680: Royal Blue 680 metallic (1992). Gearbox, cardan and wheels rims are not painted.
- Scheme 267: Dakar Yellow 267 plus big Black graphics (1993). Exclusive for the "Ultima" limited series. Gearbox, cardan and wheels rims are not painted.
